I’m on my first long haul flight for a few years and I’m reminded about the incredible plastic waste caused by airport ‘security’. Passengers come off a plane with a ‘free’ plastic bottle of water, are forced to throw it away at security, then have to buy another plastic bottle of water to get them through the wait…if there’s anyone reading your blog who can think how to improve this vast waste of water and plastic…please, make your move!
It's madness isn't it!! It's also very complicated... I get the need for security and biosecurity restrictions for sure, but there has to be a better way. Encouraging reusables is one of course.
I take my own (empty) bottle with me, fill it up when I’ve been through security, and say no thanks to extra bottles if I can. Airports in Australia and Aotearoa often have water bottle filling stations.
